Located next to the original Knott's Berry Farm theme park, Knott's Soak City USA offers a great way to beat the heat of our usually warm southern California summers. This seasonal water park, (open from mid-May to September) offers a look back to the surf culture of California in the 1950's. Old " Woodie" cars seem to be everywhere, and with the music, the roar of the water and the smell of tanning lotion just seems to reinforce the sense that you are on the Malibu coast, circa 1953. Aside from the visuals of the park, this park is all about thrills, chills and getting a bit wet.
Knott's Soak City USA offers rides and water slides for the whole family, from lounging around with the kids in the Gremmie Lagoon to launching yourself down the 62-foot open flume freefall at Old Man Falls (there are 3 separate flumes here). There are also many rides in-between, all of which will keep you cool and get the adrenalin pumping. Malibu Run consists of four (4) individual single person inner tube slides. These slides not only begin at a height of 40 feet, but you also have a choice of tearing down an open-air flume of one that is covered (and very dark). Next on the big slide list is the Laguna Storm Water Tower, coming in at over 43 feet high! The tower consists of the following flumes, Typhoon, Tornado and the Cyclone, which are separate single and double inner tube enclosed flumes.
These fast and furious slides are some of the parks most popular for those of us who are a bit older, riskier or for those who are just looking for a quick thrill. The next stop at the park is Banzai Falls, and as the name suggests you should be ready for another thrill seeking, wet 'n' wide ride! Banzai Falls sits at just over 41 feet high, and with its six (6) multi-lane speed slides makes for a great run in the sun. But wait, that is not all. On this ride you are dispatched head first, yes head first down all 41 feet of rushing water into the waiting pool below. If this isn't a "head" rush, I do not know what is. (Just a little information on the above rides; all have a minimum height requirement of 42", with exception to the Old Man Falls and the Malibu Run, which have a 48" requirement.)
