San Diego Zoo

For all you animal-lovers, your heart is sure to burst when you visit the world-renowned San Diego Zoo! This animal haven is well-known for the wonderful care it provides for over 3,700 animals that call it home. Its open-air, cageless exhibits are designed to recreate natural animal habitats and make the animals feel as comfortable as possible.

The 100-acre zoo is located inside Balboa Park in San Diego. For those who may be overwhelmed by the amount of walking involved, all tickets provide the option of a 35-minute narrated tour on a double-decker bus covering much of the zoo, as well as the Skyfari, an overhead gondola lift that takes you from one end of the park to the other.

With more species to see than one could possibly imagine, visitors can plan their trip best by choosing their favorite exhibits to see first! These include Monkey Trails and Forest Tales, with animals from the rainforests of Asia and Africa like spider monkeys, pygmy hippos and slender-snouted crocodiles, and the Polar Plunge with over thirty species from the Arctic.

Those with a desire to travel to the Australian outback can make their way to Koalafornia to see wombats, kangaroos, wallabees, koalas, tasmanian devils, and many other creatures that they might never have a chance to see elsewhere!

San Diego Zoo: Special Experiences

There’s plenty to smile about at the San Diego Zoo, not only because of the incredible animals roaming around but also the zoo’s efforts to help animals around the world through its conservation and species preservation programs. Over time, they have helped release over thirty endangered species back into the wild. The San Diego Zoo Institute for Conservation Research employs over 200 scientists worldwide, dedicated to helping save animal species and the habitats they live in.
