All You Need to Know About the New Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge
When you look around Disneyland® Resort, you will see wall-to-wall smiles. It’s no wonder that this incredible theme park is known as “the happiest place on earth.”
The galaxy is closer than you think with Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge, Disneyland® Resort’s latest Star Wars-themed location. Luckily for fans of the famous George Lucas franchise, its grand opening is not as far, far away as the galaxy it’s set in.
Due to incredible demand, Disneyland® Resort will open the highly-anticipated Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge on May 31st, 2019!
Disneyland® Resort has decided to open the new area in two phases to allow advanced early access for die-hard fans. The first phase will include the grand opening of Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge and the second phase will include Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance, each with their own unique rides and attractions for you to enjoy.
You don’t need to be a member of the Rebel Alliance to take advantage of the endless possibilities at Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge — you can create your very own story.
Board and fly famous ships throughout the galaxy on rides like the Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run, where you’ll discover new foods and drinks and collect interstellar items from space-faring merchants and shops aboard the ship!
Opening later this year, Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance will be the most advanced attraction yet! Guests will become fully immersed in the story and visuals as they find themselves in the middle of an intense battle between the First Order and the Resistance.
All About Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge
Disneyland® Resort’s Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge is the theme park’s most significant expansion since its opening and fans can expect the park’s designers and engineers to deliver.
The Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge experience includes complete immersion into the world of Lucas’ beloved sci-fi franchise, which has seen the production of more than ten wildly popular films, plus countless shows, video games, comics, and more.
This project has been more than five years in the making and is set on the planet Batuu, located on the far frontier of the galaxy’s edge. The 14-acre section of the park centers around Black Spire Outpost, where rebels and rogues go to deal on the black market while living under the restrictive First Order regime.
The Black Spire lives up to its reputation as a safe harbor for smugglers and black-market merchants, and guests will have the opportunity to haggle with some of the galaxy’s most questionable characters.
Interacting with traders at the Black Spire, you can build your very own, one-of-a-kind lightsaber or customize a droid to your specifications. Other collectibles, including Star Wars-themed ears, are also available.
The attraction will be populated with new and well-known characters alike and set against a backdrop of more than 200,000 square feet of hand-carved sandstone for an experience that is genuinely out of this world.
Fans will have the opportunity to board and pilot the fastest piece of junk in the galaxy, Hans Solo’s very own Millennium Falcon with the interactive Millennium Falcon: Smuggler’s Run ride. Groups of six pilot the infamous ship across the universe at lightspeed in a simulator that will leave you breathless!
But the fun doesn’t stop there — keep an eye out for the X-Wing and TIE fighter ships in the new section of the park, along with the opening of Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance.
This incredible ride will feature a mix of live action and animatronic special effects, as well as appearances by the Resistance’s finest, including Kylo Ren and At-At Walkers.
Like many of the themed sections throughout the park, Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge will feature a bespoke menu of delicious delights that you can’t find anywhere else in this universe. The list includes such signature items as the blue Bantha milk drink, a Luke Skywalker favorite, among other delicacies.
As iconic as the films themselves, the scores composed for the franchise by legendary composer John Williams evoke instant nostalgia among fans.
Williams lent his talents to the franchise yet again for the making of Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge musical theme, which will play throughout the park and give visitors a feeling of total immersion.
