Disneyland® Resort Planning Guide
It’s Always a Magical Time at Disneyland® Resort
If it’s your first time at Disneyland® Resort or you’ve been here a dozen, there’s always something to discover. Classic’s like “it’s a small world’ and The Little Mermaid – Ariel’s Undersea Adventure have been staples for a reason. Guardians of the Galaxy and Jungle Cruise are other areas your whole family will love.
Take a Selfie with Your Favorite Star
One of the best parts about taking a trip to Disneyland® Resort is the chance to meet some of your favorite movie characters. From Jack Sparrow to Mickey and the gang and more, characters from all Disney movies can be found wandering the grounds near their themed areas.
May The Force Be With You
Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge, the newest themed area of Disneyland® Park opened spring of 2019. This attraction, which encompasses 14-acres, is a must-see for any fans of the franchise. Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge promises to have guests feel like they’ve transported to a galaxy far, far away.
Visit One Park or Two
When you book your next Disneyland® Resort vacation through aRes Travel, you can choose from several Disneyland® Park or Disneyland® Resort package options, all of which are perfect for every family. One option is the Disneyland® Resort Park Hopper® Hotel package where you can enjoy both parks during your trip.

Get the App
Download the Disneyland® Resort App through the App Store or Google Play store to streamline your experience even more. The app is where you can add MaxPass to your tickets. Disney MaxPass combines the ability to make Disney FASTPASS attraction and entertainment selections from your phone with unlimited Disney PhotoPass downloads from the day and you can do it all for just $20 per day, per ticket!
Make FASTPASS selections for attractions and entertainment, order food all while you’re in the parks. Guests with Park Hopper Tickets can even make selections for attractions and entertainment in both theme parks, you can also access the FASTPASS viewing areas for Fantasmic! and World of Color. Plus, you can make your next Disney FASTPASS selection on your phone as soon as you are eligible—there is no need to walk to a Disney FASTPASS Distribution location. See wait times, browse maps, check FASTPASS return times, locate Disney Characters appearing throughout the parks and much more!
The app also stores your Disneyland ticket if you have created an account with Disney so you don’t need to carry the paper one. They just scan your phone at the gate. It also keeps track of your annual pass and provides calendars that show you your black out dates, if you have any.
Plan a Meal Ahead of Time
Another perk to having the Disneyland® Resort App is that you can check out the restaurants ahead of time. Browse the menus, make reservations, or order your meal from your phone at select restaurants.
Explore the Park, from the Comfort of Your Phone
Another reason to get the Disneyland® Resort App on your iPhone or Android device is the access to the Disneyland® Park Map. The GPS-enabled maps will let show you where you are in the park and help you find your way to different attractions, restaurants and more. If you don’t want the app, you can still pick up a paper version on the grounds, or plan your trip ahead of time with the interactive map on the Disneyland® Resort website.
Something for Everyone
Disneyland® Resort has never been just for kids. But now with the new Ballast Point® Brewing Co. in the downtown district, there’s even more for adults to do. The downtown district is also home to several dining, shopping, and activities available any time to the public. No tickets required.
Hit the Lanes for a Round of Bowling
Stop by Salt & Straw to try unique, taste provoking ice cream before heading to Splitsville for a round or bowling. Or head over to The VOID and immerse yourself into different virtual worlds. The Downtown Disney District is open to the public with no admission necessary.
It’s Always a Good Time to Visit Disneyland® Resort
If you’re planning a trip to Disneyland® Resort, you might be trying to figure out when the best time to visit is. In our opinion, it’s always a great time. But it comes down to what you want to see and do while there.
Summer Vacation Planning
Generally, the best time to plan a trip is during holidays or summer.
The parks stay open late, which gives you more time to experience and do everything you can at Disneyland® Resort. In the summer, every day, there are shows, parades, and fireworks. You’re also less likely to encounter rides that are closed for maintenance.
Winter Getaway
If avoiding some of the crowds is your goal, then consider booking your trip for January or February. The park may not be open as many hours, but the crowds are smaller and the wait to get on rides isn’t as long. Another optimal month is September for many of the same reasons. Contact your aRes Travel planning expert to find out more about what different months have to offer.
Don’t Miss Out on Any Rides
Taking turns waiting in the lines can be tough for couples with children who also want to spend the day riding the attractions. Which is why Disneyland® offers rider switch. This allows everyone to get a turn, without missing out if your child to too young to go on the rides with you. Because there’s no cost to the rider switch option, it makes it an excellent choice for all families.
